The Effects of Dry Hair

frizz

Hair needs moisture to stay ‘healthy’. If you constantly find yourself wondering why your hair is stuck at the constant same length year after year, dry hair may be your issue.

Lack of moisture in your hair can lead your hair to become brittle and prone to breakage. It also doesn’t help when your hair is constantly hanging out around your neck playing friendly with your moisture sucking fabric clothes.

To combat dryness begin a regimen of constantly adding it to your hair and sealing it in, whether with a butter or oil. If you don’t see results right away don’t give up. Hair is like a plant, you won’t be able to see and feel the effects of the moisture right away. It first needs to catch up on the water it needs.

Add leave-in conditioner into your hair regimen. Do you constantly wash your hair and just leave the shower? Leave-in conditioner not only adds some extra needed moisture back to your hair, it also locks it in.

Conditioners! Why spend money on those products at the store when they contain things like drying alcohol and more? Do it yourself!

Banana Deep Conditioner for Dry Hair

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2-3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey (pure)
  • plastic bag/shower cap

Put all ingredients in blender, blend until smooth then apply to hair. Tie as plastic bag on to to our hair to lock in moisture and create heat. Leave on for 30 minutes.

How long should you leave a DC on for?

Avocado Mask

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey

Combine ingredients in blender. Set to “puree” and blend until it has the consistency of lotion. Apply to entire head–root to ends.

Avocado Shea Butter

Place the sliced avocado, unrefined shea butter, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), and apple cider vinegar (ACV) into a blender. (There is no need to melt the shea butter ahead of time.)  Blend all the ingredients thoroughly and add more EVOO, if necessary, until the mixture reaches your desired consistency. When done, apply to the hair and let sit for 30 minutes.

How do you cure a case of dry hair?
